Mosi-oa-Tunya: the Smoke that Thunders

Mosi-oa-Tunya, or better known as Victoria Falls, is a series of waterfalls in the Southern part of Africa, to be more specific, between Zambia and Zambabwe, on the Zambezi River. The name of Mosi-oa-Tunya derive from the Batswana and Makololo tribe that generally means 'the smoke that thunders' while Victoria was a name from David Livingstone to honour Queen Victoria.

In terms of height and width, Mosi-oa-Tunya was not the best on Earth, but it is the largest, with the width of 1,708 metres and 108 metres of height. The waterfall was made up of 8 gorges, or small and narrow cliffs. When you see the first gorge from the Zambian side, you can see clearly of the other 7 gorges.

The water running down from the first gorge is clear and soothing, imagine how it would feel once you step in closer to the valley and feel the coolness of the water, how the water would reflect upon the sun and creates a beautiful rainbow. I think the smell of the water would be something we would never experience unless we visit Mosi-oa-Tunya on our own since I think the smell of all eight water running down from the gorges harshly hitting on the moldy rock underneath it at the same time is not something you can find in ordinary waterfalls. Running your hands along the water would be a pleasure I believe, hearing the soft murmuring of the water against your hands as they stream down the gorges.

I want to visit Mosi-oa-Tunya before I die because it is classified as the largest waterfall on Earth. I also wanted to see why David Livingston named the waterfall after the queen, was it as beautiful as she is? What makes the waterfall so special that he felt the need to name it after the queen. I also want to visit the famous 'Devil's Pool' where you can swim around in the edge of one of the gorges. I feel like only brave people would be willing to do that and I want to challenge myself.

Around the waterfall, there are also the natural habitat of some animals like the White Rhinos and Hippopotamus, which are two among my favourite animals.

Studying: Tips & Tricks

Okay, so it's time for me to create another post. This time we need to make a post about studying. So if you know me in real life, you'd probably understand that I don't study. Studying is just not my style. I prefer the up-all-night-before-a-test-day when studying. But in case any of you reading this isn't like me and is a diligent student (good for you) in school, this is the best way to study:

  • Knowing your topic- This is probably the simplest rule there is but I remember when I was younger, we need to memorize the eleventh spelling list in Mandarin but instead I memorized the twelfth spelling list so I know how to spell dog and not clothes. Anyways, know your topic first before studying or you will regret it.
  • Knowing what to memorize- What is studying? Studying is not understanding what the teacher is saying, studying is memorizing them. The teachers couldn't care less what you understand as long as you answer the answers correctly. So don't go waltzing into your biology classroom with an English text memorized in mind.
  • Snacks and breaks- What is the most important thing in studying? Breaks. And food since we practically can't think when we are hungry. So once in awhile, I don't know, every 15 minutes, get up and get some crisps to eat. Better yet, forget you have to study and spend the rest of the night with crisps and Netflix.
  • Music and cats videos- People say that music and cats videos are distracting but not me! Listen to music while studying, after 30 minutes, go on youtube and watch cats videos. Think of it as a little reward. Think of it like, "If I can memorize this entire paragraph, I can watch the part two of that cat video." This is legit really effective because I once studied while listening to Melanie Martinez's album, Cry Baby, and sang the songs in my head while taking the test so yeah. Listen to music, it's good for the soul. If you can't listen to music with words, try listening to game soundtracks on youtube.
  • R E L A X- I can't stress this enough. The only reason I don't like studying is that it stresses me. I stopped studying since like last year and my grades had been dropping but I think I am a better and happier person. If you want to study, it's cool since that's the reason you click this article anyways, but if you feel like the pressure from studying is too much, literally take a break from studying for like a week. You'd be shock of how much you have missed on the world while you are studying.

That's it from me. I think it's better if you don't follow these way because everyone has a preferred method of studying- you'll find your own. But the only thing you need to follow in these methods is that please don't overwork yourself, ily :*

Johnny is forced to smile when studying. Don't be a liar like Johnny.
No one likes studying.
